Reader question: Looks like they might be moving some dirt around where the old Big Lots was in Neenah. Is that just my imagination?

Answer: No. They’re getting closer to breaking ground on the $2.1 million Goodwill retail store and training facility there.

Goodwill announced in February it planned to join the existing CVS and Kwik Trip on the former Big Lots property on S. Green Bay Road in Neenah.

“We hope to begin construction Aug. 1. That’s our goal,” said Karen Laws, vice president of community relations for Goodwill NCW. “We’re not quite sure when everything will be finished. We’re hoping for early to mid 2014.”

She said the structure will be 23,538 square feet, and a sign will go up shortly on the site to identify the building.
