Program to focus on PET scans

Positron Emission Tomography, or PET, Scans will be discussed at the next educational session of Forum 55+ the social and educational program sponsored by Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield for those 55 and older.

The session will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the hospital's St. Joseph's Conference Room (watch for signs).

Dr. Boyd Vomocil, Marshfield Clinic nuclear medicine specialist on staff at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, will talk about the differences between PET scans as well as other more well-known imaging modalities. He will also discuss appropriate uses of PET scans, as well as instances when the scans may not be beneficial to the patient or referral physicians.

The public is welcome. A continental breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. For details about Forum 55+, call 715-387-9739.
