Two boys were referred to juvenile authorities after Oshkosh Police received a report was one of the boys had a gun.

A 14-year-old Oshkosh boy and a 15-year-old Fond du Lac boy were riding their bicycles in the 500 block of North Main Street at 10:30 p.m. Friday when a citizen contacted police and said the Oshkosh boy had a gun in the waistband of his pants.

When officers located the two boys near the intersection of North Main Street and Irving Avenue, they determined the Oshkosh boy had a plastic toy gun tucked into his pants, said Joe Nichols, spokesman for the Oshkosh Police Department.

Nichols said the boy was lifting his shirt and showing the handle of the gun to people as he rode by.

Both boys were referred to juvenile authorities for disorderly conduct and released to their parents. The Fond du Lac boy also received a municipal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia, Nichols said.
