A large area of high pressure will keep a hot and humid air mass over southern Wisconsin into Friday.

Highs today through Thursday will be in the upper 80s into the lower 90s, with heat index values climbing to 94 to 99. Some locally higher values are possible in rural areas where fields of maturing crops add moisture to the air.

The prolonged nature of the heat wave may cause an increase in heat related illness as the week progresses. The heat can be most stressful on the very young or elderly or those with medical conditions - heart or lung problems - or those who work outside, according to a press ...
