This happy-go-lucky guy was giving a wave to everybody who came to the movie presented by Spencer Kids Group.
As summer rolls around, there is one thing you can count on. There will be an outdoor movie or two to view. The Spencer Kids Group is presenting two this summer. The first was on July 11th. It was a beautiful evening with a crescent moon hanging in the western sky. It wasn't hot, and there was absolutely no threat of rain in the forecast.
The lack of bleachers did not turn people away. They came alone, and they came as families. They carried in their lawn chairs, and some even brought blankets. Some of the younger kids were dressed in their pajamas. Some parents were planning ahead. The movie did not start until 9:30, so I am sure it was past some bedtimes for a few of the kids.
As the sun continued to descend from its lofty position in the sky, the people started to roll in. Rock and Roll to Go Plus from Eau Claire provided the inflated screen for the evening. As the darkness started to surround us, we were entertained with pre-movie music. Just before the movie started, the host got the kids involved with the chicken dance. There would be a male winner and female winner, who would receive a glow necklace. It was hard to choose the best ones, so all the kids received a necklace. As the movie progressed, the audience had the opportunity to choose from concession favorites such as cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, soda and water.
The following businesses and organizations helped sponsor the movie: Citizens State Bank, Gosse Chiropractic, Heritage Bank, Jensen Motors, K & S Landscaping, Kwik trip, Maurer's Acres and storage, Quick Print, Spencer Chamber of Commerce, Spencer Women's Club, and the Village of Spencer. Thank you for your generous contributions.
The next movie is scheduled for August 8. Remember to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
