Sea wall project will reduce insurance burden

Stevens Point has made a deal with Consolidated Water Power Co. and the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee to revise the current flood plain map to remove almost 200 parcels from the 100-year-old map of Stevens Point.

The city and the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the project in 2011.

The new project on the east side of the Wisconsin River north of the NewPage Stevens Point Dam will add 18 inches of sea wall. It also will add supporting steel and additional rock structures to support the sea wall. ...
