Child care centers in Wood County are working to become more breastfeeding friendly.

Thanks to grant money from the Wood County Health Department and Wood County Breastfeeding Coalition, 15 child care centers in Wisconsin Rapids, Biron, Vesper, Nekoosa and Marshfield each received $1,000 to help meet the criteria outlined in the "Ten Steps to Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Centers" criteria from the state.

Each participating center's staff members received training on the 10 steps, which include establishing supportive breastfeeding policies at the center for parents and staff ...
