'Stuff the School Bus' set for Aug. 8
United Way of Inner Wisconsin's annual "Stuff the School Bus" drive has started. Donations will be collected at the Aug. 8 Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Lunch by the River.
The annual event is geared toward collecting school supplies for families in financial need.
United Way of Inner Wisconsin is looking for businesses, churches, service organizations and clubs to serve as donation drop-off locations through Aug. 8.
A school supply drive is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Aug. 4 at Walmart, 4331 Eighth St. S., Wisconsin Rapids. Monetary donations and gift certificates can be written to: "Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk," and sent to "Stuff the Bus/Stuff the Desk," c/o United Way of Inner Wisconsin, 351 Oak St., Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494.
Summerfest ranks No. 1 with online poll
Visitors to Daily Tribune Media's website recently voted Summerfest Wisconsin's best music festival.
Sixty-four votes of the 212 cast (30.19 percent) went to Summerfest, held in Milwaukee, as the favorite music festival.
Fifty-three votes (25 percent) were cast for Hodag, a country music festival in Rhinelander. Rock Fest, which begins today in Cadott, received 31 (14.62 percent) of the votes. The Christian music festival Lifest, in Oshkosh, got 26 (12.26 percent) votes.
The remaining votes went to Rock USA, Oshkosh, 15 (7.08 percent); Country Jam, 12 (5.66 votes); and Country Fest, 11 (5.19 percent) votes. The new poll question is about phobias. Check it out at www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com.
Brat fry to benefit Children's Miracle Network
Members' Advantage Credit Union, 1610 Lincoln St., Wisconsin Rapids, will hold a brat fry from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. today to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
The menu will include brats, hot dogs, chips, soda and pickles. Delivery is available for orders of 12 or more brats or hot dogs.
