Column: Trout Festival is over and summer winds down

Another Trout Festival in the history books. This is the first one in 40 years that I didn't either get there or watch the event from my deck downtown. And I can say one thing about living uptown: It's a lot quieter on the Saturday night of Trout Festival, especially after midnight.

Plus I didn't realize until Saturday that the the parade on Sunday starts in front of the nursing home, turns onto Third Street and goes right past my new digs. I didn't even have to walk up to the corner. Talk about convenience. The parade was nice albeit shorter than usual.
