Ascension Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity Fond du Lac County, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Fondy Food Pantry and Pizza Ranch are partnering together on Wednesday, July 24, to build hope through "Building Community Day" in Fond du Lac.

This special day is part of the 2013 Youth Midwest mission trip that Ascension is sponsoring, in which their youth group is bringing 15 international friends to serve with them from Belize, Central America from July 19-28.

These Belizeans are the same high school-age students that Ascension served with on their mission to Belize last year.

A total of 32 high school students and 15 adult leaders will be teaming up to serve in Fond du Lac, Milwaukee and Chicago.

During the team's time in Fond du Lac, they will be working with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to assemble and paint 25 picnic tables that will be given back to the community to places like the Fond du Lac Children's Museum, Lakeside Park and more.

To be a part of this community-wide effort and see these students in action in Fond du Lac, stop by Ascension Lutheran Church, 901 CTH V, in Fond du Lac, on July 24, between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to say "hi" to the team and drop off donations for the Fondy Food Pantry. The goal is to fill the Habitat for Humanity truck with donations of non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.

"Summer is one of the neediest times, and the group is doing a food drive which is greatly appreciated," shared Terri Hansen-Beno of the Fondy Food Pantry and Broken Bread.

? July 24: The community is also invited to join the team at Pizza Ranch in Fond du Lac the evening of Wednesday, July 24. Pizza Ranch will not only be giving back 10 percent of the sales and 100 percent of the tips from 4:30 to 9 p.m. as part of one of their Community Impact Nights to support future mission efforts in Belize, but they will also match the amount made from sales and give that back as well to the cause.

? July 26: In addition, an ecumenical worship service will be taking place at Ascension Lutheran Church on July 26, at 7 p.m. that is also part of this mission experience. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
