Bill could prevent future library wars between Brown, Outagamie counties

A state lawmaker who represents the Fox Valley wants to prevent future border skirmishes like the recent battle between Brown and Outagamie counties over $33,281 in library charges.

Rep. Dave Murphy has introduced a proposal he says would level the playing field for libraries in Outagamie and four other counties that border Brown. The bill would enable non-consolidated library systems - like Outagamie County's - to recoup the cost of lending materials to residents of counties, such as Brown, that have consolidated libraries.
