Goats on Poles? Only in Door County

Look for an abnormal number of goats hanging around Sister Bay this summer. And we're not just talking about the iconic live ones on the grass roof of Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant & Butik.

Fourteen life-sized goat cut-outs are on display in the Door County village through mid-August as part of a public art project called - what else? - Goats on Poles.

Each goat was decorated by a local artist to help bring attention to the Door County Festival of Fine Arts, a free event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 in Waterfront Park, where artists will demonstrate their craft and sell their works.

The inaugural Goats on Poles are not for sale, as the plan is to keep "growing the herd'' each year.
