Two 21-year-old women from Wisconsin Rapids are dead, and a 21-year-old Rudolph man is hospitalized after an early morning crash in rural Portage County.

Melissa Peterson and Stephanie Eberhardt, both 21 and from Wisconsin Rapids, were killed when the truck they were riding in crashed into trees on Gumz Road near Highway II at about 2 a.m. Saturday. The driver, 22-year-old Tim Saaveda of Loyal, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and faces additional pending criminal charges.
