Marathon's Dinkel, Amherst trio help North beat South

Central Wisconsin players made an impact in the small schools' division all-star game put on by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association, played Saturday at J.J. Keller Field.

Marathon's Vince Dinkel scored on a 28-yard pass play in the third quarter, and Amherst defenders Ryan Makuski and Max Strand combined for two takes for losses and three pass breakups to help the North stars beat the South 20-19.

In addition to catching the touchdown that put his team up 20-6, Dinkel booted two of his punts inside the 20. His longest punt went 45 yards. ...
