Not so fast: McCarthy street name hits road bumps in Green Bay, Ashwaubenon

Development on one street named after a Green Bay Packers coach is affecting efforts to honor a second Packers leader.

The village of Ashwaubenon has delayed Tuesday night's discussion of a proposal to rename Ashland Avenue in honor of current coach Mike McCarthy. The delay, Village President Mike Aubinger said, is because of preparations for the opening of the Cabela's store on Lombardi Avenue - a street named for Packers coaching legend Vince Lombardi.

Board members will discuss the Ashland Avenue proposal in August, Aubinger said, but those talks might not happen until the end of the ...
