The case against a 44-year-old New Berlin man involved in a brutal dog attack on his 18-year-old son was closed Tuesday afternoon after he was sentenced in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.

Joel Kennedy was placed on probation for 18 years and received one year of conditional jail time following his conviction on charges of failing to report a crime, substantial battery and first-degree reckless injury.

Kennedy was found guilty by a jury in December of those charges, as well as one count of false imprisonment. In February, he was sentenced to six months in jail on the latter charge. ...
