Massive Abandoned Flag Gets Proper Folding: A garrison sized American Flag was found by Al Tessmann of Plover in a dump the day after Memorial Day. Tessmann is looking to have the flag disposed of the proper way with the help of the Plover VFW.

Al Tessmann served 22 years in the U.S. Army, including a one year tour in Iraq. As a battalion first sergeant, he had to take care of his men and never lost one, but said if he did, he now thinks he knows how it would have felt.

The Plover resident found a large American flag, similar to those flown on military posts, torn and mostly buried in the garbage at the Portage County Solid Waste Transfer Facility in Plover a day after Memorial Day.
