Area boys basketball teams look to get better through summer league play

Marathon senior Matthew Haehlke is not sure how many shots he has taken this summer at basketball hoops located in gyms, above his driveway or at a playground.

"Not enough," said Haehlke, the Raiders' top returning scorer from last season said.

For the past seven weeks, Haehlke has also spent one day a week at University of Wisconsin Marathon County playing in the summer boys basketball league. The season closed Tuesday with Haehlke and his Marathon teammates edging Abbotsford 46-45 in the championship game of the small school division. ...
