A Loyal man accused of killing two women in a weekend crash drank three pitchers of beer at a fire department fundraiser before the crash and had a blood-alcohol limit nearly twice the legal limit afterward, prosecutors said Monday.

Timothy Saavedra, 22, was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond Monday after Portage County District Attorney Louis Molepske said he anticipated filing two counts of homicide by drunken driving against Saavedra later this week.

Saavedra is accused of killing two Wisconsin Rapids women, both 21 years old, and injuring a 21-year-old Rudolph man in the crash. ...
