Menasha schools leave illegal residency provision in administrator's contract

Just sign on the dotted line, even if the contract contains now-illegal conditions of employment.

That's essentially what happened when the Menasha Board of Education approved District Administrator Chris VanderHeyden's contract on Monday. The document included language requiring VanderHeyden to move into the district by July 1, 2014.

A provision of the state budget made those requirements illegal for all public employees - except emergency personnel - though no one in Menasha seems to mind. ...
