Best bet: Tater Toot celebrates 50 years

The Almond Lions Club will hold its 50th annual Tater Toot on Friday and Saturday in downtown Almond.

The event begins on Friday with a car cruise at 7 p.m. starting in Kellner, followed by a flame thrower exhibition held at dusk on Main Street and music by Spicy Tie Band from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Saturday's events will include the annual Tater Toot Classic Car Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a quilt gathering from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Almond-Bancroft High School, a charcoal chicken and pork chop dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Almond Fire Station, a parade at 1 p.m., silent auction from noon to 4 p.m. in the Almond Fire Station, inflatable activities for youths, and music by the University of Wisconsin Marching Band at 2 p.m., Mel Albright Polka Band from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Rodeo Deville from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Food and beverages will be available both days, and the raffle drawing will be at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
