The event that asks the question, Why Not Wausau, is back for another year.

The day begins with an event near the Dells of the Eau Claire County Park. The Ice Age Trail Alliance is coordinating a volunteer cleanup session at 8 a.m. along the Plover River Segment.

"We are targeting 2 to 2.5 miles," said volunteer and crew leader of Ice Age Trail Alliance, Gail Piotrowski.

She said the cleanup will include painting of signage and trimming of branches. Piotrowski will give a brief presentation on the creation of the trail in 2010 and give direction to people who are interested in sprucing up the area.

To get there, take Highway Z east to Highway Y. Turn left (north) toward Dells of the Eau Claire Park. Turn right (east) on Sportsman Drive. Travel 4 miles to the trailhead parking lot. From CR-Z/CR-Y intersection, follow the yellow Ice Age Trail Event signs.

There are yoga and CrossFit sessions planned during the afternoon on the 400 Block. Additional details will be announced on the Why Not Wausau Facebook page.

Then, enjoy a public art event beginning around 5 p.m. and then picnic and listen to the funky sounds of Charles Walker Band, starting at 7 p.m. Taking the stage next is The Giving Tree Band, with their many strings and upbeat folk and rock blend.

The event will take place rain or shine. For more information call 715-845-1111 or visit www.whynotwausau.com.
