Alliant to test LED streetlights in Fond du Lac

Alliant Energy will replace approximately 30 streetlights along Martin and Fond du Lac avenues near the Fond du Lac County Fairgrouds with light-emitting diode units as part of a pilot project to test the performance of LED technology.

Streetlights on wooden poles belong to Alliant Energy, according to Steve Kees, Fond du Lac Public Works operations director. If a streetlight is on a black or silver painted pole, it is owned by the city.
