Clark, Marathon counties receive valuable farmland expansion

Farmland in Clark and Marathon counties is vital to economic growth, and a program designed to preserve that land will soon reach 164,451 acres.

Agricultural enterprise areas, or AEAs, are part of Wisconsin's farmland preservation and are intended to preserve agricultural land use and promote economic development. Landowners within AEAs can receive tax credits in exchange for signing an agreement to keep their land in agricultural use for at least 15 years.
