A Wausau woman is recovering from minor injuries after she was attacked by a stranger at the Paff Woods Nature Preserve, police said.

The attack happened at about 10 a.m. Wednesday at the park, 1601 Kickbusch St., when a 25-year-old woman was out for a walk, Wausau Police Capt. Bryan Hilts said Friday. Robert Woods, 32, of Wausau, was charged in Marathon County Circuit Court on Thursday with felony counts of strangulation/suffocation and making threats to injure. He also faces misdemeanor battery charges, online court records show.
