New Rome American Legion post will honor Friendship teen killed in Afghanistan

When 19-year-old Ryan J. Larson of Friendship was killed while serving in Afghanistan in June 2011, people tied black and yellow ribbons all over the community and filled the high school gymnasium to honor him.

Two years later, Big Flats resident James Kitchen, Adams County American Legion commander, was sitting at the table with his youngest son when they began talking about the anniversary of Larson's death.
