Sevastopol: Deputy's quick action helps revive Sturgeon Bay man

A Door County sheriff's deputy says he was one of several people who worked as a team to save a Sturgeon Bay man's life a month ago - he just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Deputy Brad Shortreed had just checked in for his shift patrolling northern Door County at 2:48 p.m. June 27 when he was dispatched for a vehicle that went off the road on Wisconsin 42 near Clark Lake Road in the town of Sevastopol. He was told the vehicle's driver was possibly not breathing. Two other deputies also heard the call, but Shortreed was closest to that location.
