In late June, James Jones went to Houston to spend some time with recently retired Packers receiver Donald Driver.

And Jones came away thinking Driver might be having some second thoughts about retirement.

Now that training camp has begun, those second thoughts have apparently increased.

ďI guess heís feeling like everybody feels; youíve been playing football since you were 7 and now all of sudden itís done and you kind of get those bubble guts when training camp comes around, and you want to be back out there playing,Ē Jones said today. ďSo Iím assuming he wants to play, and thatís why he hasnít turned in his papers or anything.Ē

Earlier this summer, an NFL source confirmed that Driver had not yet filed his retirement paperwork.

Even with injuries to three receivers Ė rookies Kevin Dorsey, Charles Johnson and Sederrik Cunningham Ė in the first two days of training camp, itís highly unlikely the Packers would be interested in bringing Driver back for a 15th season, especially considering how limited his role was in 2012 (8 catches for 77 yards). Driver, the teamís career receiving leader, retired in February less than two weeks after he turned 38.

ďHe tells me everyday how heís staying in shape,Ē Jones said. ďAnd I tell him every day, ĎWhy did you retire? If you still wanted to play, you shouldíve tried to play. Donít let nobody walk you away from the game if you can still try to play.í

ďBut at the time, he felt like he was done and didnít want to play football anymore. I talked to him in Houston and he said, ĎMan, I didnít want to play football anymore. I felt like I was done and me and (general manager) Ted (Thompson) and (coach) Mike (McCarthy) and everybody was on the same page.Ē

As recently as his charity softball game in June, Driver said he would come back if the Packers were interested.
