Almost 200 musicians in central Wisconsin entertain on a weekly basis in their respective communities every summer.

Community-based bands have been providing open air concerts for more than 100 years.

Two Stevens Point bands combined in 1890 to from one band, said Kathy Kawelski, the current band director for the group. The Wisconsin Rapids band is observing its 150th anniversary this year, and the Marshfield Civic band has been around for almost 120 years. ...
