James Jones calls Jennings' comments 'not cool'

Jul. 29, 2013

Packers receiver James Jones considers Greg Jennings a good friend. Jones is the godfather to Jenningsí middle child.

But Jones didnít agree with or approve of the comments made by Jennings, the former Packers receiver who signed with the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason, that disparaged Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

ďIím not a fan of his comments, but at the end of the day, you canít control what he says,Ē said Jones. ďIím glad A-Rod hasnít retaliated and said anything. G (Jennings) is a class act dude so itís kind of surprising to see him say those comments. But everybody in this locker room (is) close. You donít got to worry about us saying bad comments about A-Rod, especially comments that are not true. But everybody has their own opinion. G still my dog, A-Rod my dog, but G ainít my dog when we play them on Sunday so I got to ride with 12.Ē

Jones wasnít bothered that Jennings has been referring to Rodgers by his jersey number rather than by name.

ďHe said 12 when he was here though,Ē said Jones. ďSometimes things can get blown up a little bit more. He said 12 when he was here. Now the comments he made, they shouldnít have been made but him calling him 12, he called him 12 when he was here. Everybody got their own little nickname or something for him. But the comments he made, not cool at all, but A-Rod Ö donít let too much get under his skin. Itís about playing football.Ē

Jones doesnít pay much attention to what is said on social media.

ďEverything that has been said, I hear when I come in here from you guys,Ē said Jones. ďIím not on Twitter, Iím not on Facebook, Iím not on
none of that. So I donít even hear half the comments that are being said (that) I hear when I come in here. I donít even pay attention to them. Weíre here to win football games. We ainít here to follow Greg on Twitter.Ē

Will the Packers-Vikings rivalry become even more heated than normal?

ďItís big because itís a division game,Ē said Jones. ď(Itís) not going to be big because itís Greg Jennings over there. Itís big because weíre trying to win the division. That will be another game in the division and weíre trying to go out there and win ball games. Iím not on defense so I donít even guard Greg. So I ainít even worried about Greg. Iím on offense trying to score some points.Ē
