The view out the two-story-high windows should have Alps in it, or at least a French hillside. But those are the waters of Ellison Bay out there beyond the trees, and this mansion is nestled into the tip of Door County.

This is Ellison Bay Manor, formerly known as Sur la Baie, the biggest home in Wisconsin, currently awaiting a new owner. That last fact led to the idea of hosting a pair of Midsummer's Music concerts to showcase the mansion's elegant Grand Parlor.

(Disclosure: I'm on the committee planning the second concert, a Labor Day event supporting both the chamber music series and United Way ...
