Sweet escape: Ripon to hold annual Cookie Daze festival

Sesame Street's Cookie Monster will be a special guest at Cookie Daze 2013 scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, at Barlow Park in Ripon. Hundreds of cookies will fall from the sky in four cookie drops for area children. Prize tickets hidden in some of the cookies will allow children to win a bicycle.

It will soon be raining cookies in Ripon.

Cookie drops are one of the attractions at the annual Cookie Daze festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3, at Barlow Park, 207 Griswold St. Individually wrapped cookies will fall from the Ripon Fire Department's tallest ladder truck.

Other events include horse-drawn wagon rides, rocket building and launching, the Happy Ness clowns, children's art activities, a cookie baking contest, a cookie dough throw, cookie decorating, cookie bingo, face painting, food and beverages and an appearance by a special guest, Cookie Monster from "Sesame ...
