Zipperer takes over as Wausau East softball coach

It's more than six months before high school softball teams are allowed to start practice under WIAA guidelines, but Ken Zipperer is already working on the team's workout schedule for that day.

"It's a pretty exciting time," said Zipperer, 46, who was named the Wausau East softball coach Wednesday. "I actually did apply for this position three years ago and did not get it.
