There are signs summer is beginning to dwindle. The days are getting shorter, grills, pools and outdoor furniture are marked for clearance, and school supply sales are filling shelves once filled with beach balls.

Yes, the smell wafting from the yellow cardboard box can signify the start of a new school year. New crayons with chiseled points, lined up in neat rows, seem to define back-to-school for many.
