There's an old warbird parked in the field at AirVenture that's little more than a pile of rusty parts, but it's constantly surrounded by a crowd of spectators.

The wrecked plane was pulled out of the bottom of Lake Michigan and brought to AirVenture for display before it will be restored beginning next week.

The plane went down in 1994 during a training exercise over the lake. The engine stalled during take off, fell into the water and was run over by an aircraft carrier.

Restoration will begin Monday in Kalamazoo, Mich.
