Fire department wants to move station 2

The city of Wausau fire department last week asked a city committee for more than $3.5 million to relocate fire station two on the city's west side.

The biggest problem with the station: its location at 510 S. 32nd Ave., Fire Chief Gary Buchberger said Wednesday.

"They've kind of isolated station two, in that we don't have direct access to major arteries in the city, north, south or east," he said. ...
