Power was restored in southern Brown County by late last week after powerful storms caused nearly $3 million in damage and left thousands without electricity.

Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach on Thursday, Aug. 8, signed a disaster declaration after the storms overnight Wednesday caused extensive damage to portions of the county.

The declaration is an initial step to ask Gov. Scott Walker to seek federal aid for the areas hit by the storm. ...
