Senior Picnic to be held Aug. 24

Tickets are so sale for De Pere's annual Senior Picnic.

The event for senior citizens will be Saturday, Aug. 24, at De Pere Community Center, 600 Grant St.

Lunch will be served at noon, featuring booyah, hot dogs, chips, dessert and beverages.

Bingo will be played after lunch.

Tickets are $2.50 per person, which includes the meal, and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are on sale from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Community Center until Thursday, Aug. 22.

Free hula hooping demo class

The Community Center will hold a free demo class next week for its Hooping for Health program.

The class will run from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The self-paced hula hooping class is suitable for the entire family and adaptable for all ages. It's a cardio workout that tightens abs, tons muscles and improves balance in a fun setting using a weighted hula hoop as music plays.

Children who are 7 to 11 years old must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

The Community Center will offer two Hooping for Health sessions this fall and winter on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. The first session will be Sept. 10 to Oct. 22, and the second session will be Oct. 29 to Dec. 17 (no class Nov. 26).

Registration costs are $20 per resident, $15 per senior-citizen resident and $35 per non-resident.

To register, go to www.de-pere.org, call 339-4097 or stop in at De Pere Community Center.
