EDITOR: Summertime is not ordinarily the best time to raise money for a charitable organization, but Marshfield Area Pet Shelter has been very lucky with many people who have volunteered this summer to help raise money to build an animal shelter for our area.
First of all, we would like to thank the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry for allowing MAPS to sell items at the arts and crafts sale at Dairyfest and Picnic in the Park, and allowing us to be in the Dairyfest parade. They have understood the importance of realizing our goal of building a much-needed animal shelter. Many thanks to the volunteers who staffed our booths.
We would like to thank Rita Blenker and Century 21 Gold Key Realty and the Central Wisconsin Board of Realtors for their golf outing in July, where all the proceeds went to MAPS. We are incredibly lucky to have such a generous group of people who care so much about lost, homeless and abandoned animals.
We just completed a terrific raffle fundraiser. Thank you to all the local businesses who contributed prizes, to Angie Makovek for making a beautiful quilt for the raffle and to all the people who sold and bought tickets to support MAPS.
Finally, we would like to express a great deal of gratitude to the many volunteers for the Brat Barn fundraisers that we have held throughout the summer at Pick 'n Save. Without our volunteers, Marshfield Area Pet Shelter would not succeed.
All animals except for humans know that the principle business of life is to enjoy it.
