Stony River hosts Magic of Wellness Health Fair

Stoney River Assisted Living & Rehab will host the Magic of Wellness Health Fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug 16 in its new facility at 7805 Birch St., Weston. Several community vendors, such as Patterson Medical, Walkabout Orthotics and Northern Orthotic and Prosthetic Center will be present. Community members are invited to participate in the fair, visit booths and experience the new facility.

The fair also will feature information about Stoney River's new Wellness Program, where physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists will be on site to instruct 30- to 40-minute sessions featuring activities such as yoga, tai chi, medicine ball training, fall prevention and energy conservation. Community members will be invited to participate in the sessions for $5 per session.

Woodson YMCA offers swim clinic with champs

Wausau-area athletes can improve their swimming skills by working with swimming champions Jimmy Feigen and Misty Hyman during a Mutual of Omaha Breakout Swim Clinic on Sept. 14 at the Woodson YMCA-Aspirus Branch, 3402 Howland Ave., Weston.

The event is a four-hour in-water stroke technique clinic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for ages 8 to 18. The cost is $75.

Race for Pets benefit race to be Saturday

Home Builders Realty will sponsor a Race for Pets benefit race for the Humane Society of Marathon County at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Ringle Brickyard Speedway, highways 29 and Q interchange in Ringle. The event features four hours of go-kart racing for ages 6 to adult. Admission is $5, and free to ages 8 and younger. Admission fees to the spectator area will be donated to the Humane Society of Marathon County.
