Art Affair Gallery to host open mic

The community can share its talents when Art Affair Gallery, 196 Main St., Menasha, hosts its first open mic at 7 p.m. Aug. 28. Signup will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase at the coffee bar.

Sedaris in Green Bay Nov. 5

Ticket information and other details have been released for author and humorist David Sedaris' visit to Green Bay in November.

Sedaris will appear at Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay for an 8 p.m. show on Nov. 5. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale at 11 a.m. Aug. 26. Tickets are priced at $39.50.

Sedaris is one of America's pre-eminent humor writers. He is the author of "Barrel Fever" and "Holidays on Ice," as well as collections of personal essays, "Naked," "Me Talk Pretty One Day," "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim," and "When You Are Engulfed in Flames," each of which became a bestseller.

His 2010 book, a collection of fables titled "Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary," immediately hit the New York Times Bestseller Fiction List. His latest book, "Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls," was published in late spring.

Opening reception set for former Neenah artist

Art Affair Gallery, 196 Main St., Menasha, will host an opening reception for Sonja Higgins from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Music by John Lambert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and free refreshments will be provided.

Higgins, who now lives in Adams, is formerly of Neenah. She specializes in pottery, but also paints and works in other art forms. The exhibit will be on display Aug. 23-Oct. 3.
