LeRoy Butler dished out thousands of hits over the course of his 12-year NFL career - bruising, knee-buckling collisions that made him a four-time Pro Bowl safety and one of the most beloved figures in Green Bay Packers' history.

However, it takes two to form a tackle and Butler knew each one of his 721 career stops spanning 181 regular-season games came with a price.

That's why he devised a plan - a survival guide to the NFL, if you will. It began with the goal of reaching five years of service and then 10 and until finally eclipsing 40 career interceptions and 20 sacks, and riding off into the sunset. ...
