Retired teacher finds flexibility in a new career

After 38 years teaching math to middle school students, Karen Briggs, 65, of Wausau is enjoying the flexibility of her part-time job as a clerk at Janke Book Store in Wausau. Briggs said she enjoys having time to travel, read, volunteer and participate at her church.

"I enjoy the variety in the work, seeing people and the opportunity to learn new things (at the book store)," Briggs said. "It is a very pleasant place to work. This job gives me flexibility that I did not enjoy in teaching. If I want to go to Atlanta to visit my grandchildren at any time of year, I can do that."
