I enjoyed a visit to South Korea in September 2011 to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the Korean War sponsored by the Republic of Korea Government's Ministry of Patriot and Veteran Affairs. While there, I observed the 62nd anniversary reenactment of Gen. Douglas MacArthur's "Inchon Landing," whichtook place on Sept. 15, 1950. My travel companions and I also visited historical sites, the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and others. I was among those honored by the Korean government and people with a banquet showing their appreciation for our part in saving their country. I received an Ambassador of Peace Medal in appreciation for my services as a medic in 1952-53. Since the war, Korea is now the tenth largest economic power. The city of Seoul is modern and growing.
