Joseph and Joan Strahan celebrated 60 years of marriage with a Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton followed by a dinner with relatives and friends.

Joe graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1948 and Joan graduated from Sevastopol High as Joan Leist in 1950. The two were married July 18, 1953, by the Rev. Charles Kaminski at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Their wedding attendants were John Collins, Bob Carmody, Jerry Strahan and Dale Leist; Sheila Moore, Helen Petersilka, Aggie Carmody and Lillian Hardesty. Ushers were Paul Leist and Mickey Glaub with Julie Leist flower girl and Jim Bauer ring bearer. The Strahans honeymooned in Colorado.

Both Joe and Joan were born and raised in Door County and owned a cottage on Glidden Drive in Sturgeon Bay for many years. Joe went into the military, went to college in the Milwaukee area and became a postmaster in Saukville. Joan became a registered nurse in Port Washington. Both are now retired and living in Grafton.

Joe was elected state president for the National League of Postmasters, which required travel to most Wisconsin post offices. They also traveled to 49 states mostly on post office business.

Their children are Michael Strahan, Marquette, Mich., and Katie Large, Grafton. They have three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
