No decision has been made about the starting right tackle position, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after practice Monday.
Although Don Barclay was getting snaps with the No. 1 offense in practice today ahead of Marshall Newhouse, McCarthy said that job is still up for grabs.
"No jobs have been won," McCarthy said. He said the offensive line as a whole played better this past week against the Rams.
Other highlights from McCarthy's post-practice press conference:
♦ I thought work we did today was needed within 48 hours of coming off field against St. Louis. Today we corrected tape of St. Louis game in meeting. We got our work done today.
♦ Will view practice on tape, grade it, gather information at all positions.
♦ (Cornerback) James Nixon has knee and ankle (injuries), (Tight end Matthew) Mulligan will be challenged to play this week with elbow (injury).
♦ (Cornerback) Casey Hayward was put on limited basis to get through individual (drills). He was anxious to get out there and go full speed. Structure of practice helped him. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. Good to have him out there.
♦ Want to see (running backs Eddie) Lacy and DuJuan Harris carry the ball. Lacy did well against the Rams, has a lot more in front of him. Harris finished last season strong, unfortunate he missed so much time. Want to see those guys work on little things and perfect them.
♦ DuJuan Harris coming into season definitely classified as starter. This is third preseason game: it's time for individuals to step up and claim some responsibilities. That's what I'm looking for.
♦ I thought our team was more efficient against the Rams, but we left a lot of big impact plays on the field. This game is about making big plays, that's the part where we're not right there yet.
♦ (Tight end Andrew) Quarless returned in limited practice, hopefully he can progress through week. Give him chance to play in this game.
♦ I thought (rookie cornerback Micah) Hyde was clearly one of players recognized for his performance. He was given opportunities to make big plays. Will have opportunity on punt returns coming up.
♦ Run defense has been solid first two games.
♦ I like the way (kicker Mason) Crosby has responded since Family Night. I like the groove that he's in.
♦ We have better quarterback room since Vince Young came here. (Graham) Harrell and (B.J.) Coleman have picked it up since Young got here.
