City prepares to pick new Thomas Street project consultant

Wausau taxpayers could spend nearly $80,000 on a consultant who will develop a master plan for a $15 million road-widening project on Thomas Street that the city has been planning since 2002.

Five Wisconsin consulting firms applied for the consulting job, with costs ranging from $52,000 to $79,400, according to bids that were opened Tuesday. The city already has paid another consultant more than $380,000 to help design the project.
