The history of baseball in Door County reaches back far longer than the annals of the Door County League and the early high school squads.

We know based on last Thursday's Baileys Harbor Historical Society presentation at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall that the roots of that town's baseball history span at least 139 years to 1874.

The National League, the older of the two leagues that constitute Major League Baseball, wasn't formed until two years later in 1876. ...
