A giant of a sound man goes quiet

Billy Triplett is remembered for his friendliness as well as his sound engineering skills

Billy Triplett may have lived in Door County for just four years, but those he left behind are making it obvious that he made a tremendous impact on the local music scene, and especially its people, in his short time here.

Triplett passed away Aug. 11 at age 56 at the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay after a number of years battling health issues. Since 2009, he was the resident sound engineer at the Holiday, where he worked the sound boards in the motel's recording studio. He also set up the sound for live gigs around the city.
