Heavy construction and excavation equipment has moved onto the site of the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano at County B and State 22 in Shawano.

According to Matt Peterson, project manager at The Boldt Co. of Appleton, the project's general contractor and construction management firm, the first tasks are site preparation work. In October, concrete footings and foundations will be poured and the winter months will bring steel erection. The new hospital is slated to open in early 2015.

The new hospital is being built adjacent to the existing ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano clinic. Despite the construction, patients will continue to access the clinic via the regular parking lot and main entrance. Within the next two weeks, the staff entrance will be relocated to the west side of the building, said Peterson.
